Choir- Hannah Stanke

Vocal Music Teacher, Choir


1st Period: Cantarè, beginning soprano/alto choir

2nd Period: Donna Voce, upper class auditioned soprano/alto choir

3rd Period: Coro Basso, upper class auditioned tenor/bass choir



Choir Teacher, Mrs. Stanke, directs Cantarè (9th grade soprano/alto ensemble) and Donna Voce (upper class auditioned soprano/alto ensemble). Previous to teaching at Southwest, Mrs. Stanke taught 6-10th grade choir in the Moundsview School District for 3 years and held her own private voice studio for 4 years.


Professionally as a soprano, Mrs. Stanke has been a proud member of The Singers since 2009. She has been a frequent soloist with this ensemble on works of Handel, Fauré, Bernstein, Poulenc, and Paulus. Hannah has also been a member of the MN Beethoven Festival Chorale under the direction of Dale Warland, The Oratory Bach Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Matthew J. Olson, and has appeared as soprano soloist for The Oratorio Society of Minnesota, Augsburg Masterworks Chorale, and University of Minnesota Orchestra. She graduated from Luther College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Africana Studies, and while there sang under Dr. Craig Arnold in the Nordic Choir which toured extensively throughout the United States, Italy, Spain, and France.



Mrs. Stanke is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Minnesota where she also earned her Master of Music degree studying with Dr. Wendy Zaro-Mullins. With an emphasis in pedagogy, Mrs. Stanke is able to bring her knowledge of the voice to her choirs here at Southwest, teaching healthy technique.
