PSAT Registration

PSAT/NMSQT Information and Exam Registration Instructions

Exam Registration is online at: www.TotalRegistration.net/PSAT/241680   Registration opens at 3 PM, Monday, September 6th, a late fee of $5.00 will be applied after Monday, September 30th at 11:59 pm. Registration will close at 11:59 PM on Friday, October 11, 2019. Exams are sold on a first come, first serve basis as they are pre-ordered. When the exams are gone we will close registration.  

Exam Date is Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 8:00 AM in the East and West Gyms

What is the PSAT/NMSQT? It is a standardized test co-sponsored by the College Board and the National Merit Scholarship Program. The PSAT assesses mathematics, reading, and writing skills and prepares the student to take the SAT test required by many colleges and universities across the country. In addition, to be eligible for the National Merit Scholarship and other programs the student must take the PSAT in their junior year of high school. Sophomores may take the PSAT; however it will only be a practice test if taken during that year. What are the benefits of the PSAT?

·       Scores estimate how well a student will do on AP courses and exams

When is registration:  Starts on Monday, September 6th and end on Monday, September 30th. After September 30th if there are still exams available there will be a $5.00 late fee applied. Registration will close when all exams are sold.

Cost: $20.00 for Southwest Students and $25.00 for non-Southwest Students.

Who should register:  Juniors (Grade 11)

Can sophomores take the PSAT?  Yes, sophomores (Grade 10) may register; however the exam counts only as practice. There are no fee waivers available for sophomores.

How do you register?

For the 2019 PSAT/NMSQT, students at Southwest High School will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access.

In order to register, students should click on the link provided on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/PSAT/241680 to register. To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end.

  • Waivers are available for juniors on free or reduced lunch status which will be verified by the school.
  • Accommodations for students with disabilities are only available if the College Board has approved the student's request.

Please be sure to have a debit or credit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding mailing payment.

When is the PSAT? Wednesday, October 30 at 8:00 AM in the West and East Gyms. Please come at least 15 minutes early! 

If you missed registration please come to the West Gym with a check written out to Southwest High School for $25.00 ($5.00 late fee). At 8:15 am we will sell the exams for students who do not show up.
