Getting TeamSnap Notifications
Wednesday, April 27, 2016 12:25 PM

If you're not getting MÜS TeamSnap messages, you may need to change your settings so that you do! This is how we communicate important information to the team, and if there's a last minute change for a game time or location, this is how you'll know about it.

You can customize the settings for what makes the most sense for you (email, text, and/or phone notifications). You set them all by editing your information on the Roster in the app on your phone or on a computer. Here's how to do it in the iPhone app (should be the same or similar for Android):

  1. Open your name on the Roster.
  2. Tap Edit (upper right corner).
  3. Tap the email address (and edit it or add a new one as necessary).
  4. Turn on the switch to get team emails.
  5. Tap your mobile number (and edit it or add a new one as necessary).
  6. Turn on the alerts switch (so you will get text message alerts that are sent to the team) and select your carrier.
  7. Tap Save (upper right corner).

You may also wish to customize the TeamSnap notifications settings so that get push notifications on your phone for messages sent. You can set these in the general Notifications settings for your Phone or in the general TeamSnap Settings.

Madison Mudbath Tournament info
Tuesday, April 19, 2016 7:30 AM

Get psyched! The Madison Mudbath Tournament is coming up quick - NEXT FRIDAY!  Here’s what you need to do, and need to know.

  1. The tournament:  The Madison Mudbath is a 2-day tournament (about 6-7 games) held at James Madison Memorial High School in Madison, WI.  It is selective, and invites teams that have strong commitment to sportsmanship and the spirit of the game, who play hard, and who will be polite houseguests for all the family that hosts us overnight at their home.  It’s a privilege to be able to play along side 16 teams from all over the upper mid-west. And it's super fun!
  2. Dates/Times:  April 29 – May 1
    - Leave SWHS, Friday, April 29 at 4:30pm
    - Deliver kids back to their homes Sunday evening, May 1.
    - Parents /coaches will drive players to Madison and a parent chaperone will be with the players at all times.
  3. Who can play?  Any MUS player.  MUS is sending one open team – and our MUS ladies are welcome to play.  It’s a competitive tournament, so players who’ve played for a year might enjoy it most. (The tournament runs an open tournament for co-ed play, and a girls tournament, but we’re only playing in the open tournament. Chris will coach.).
  4. Do you want to play? If you want to play, indicate availability in TeamSnap or e-mail by Saturday April 23. (Make sure to okay it with your parents ).  Players will be taken on a first-come first served basis…we will be limited by how many drivers we have. Currently only 11 players are signed up.
  5. WE NEED PARENT DRIVERS for the weekend.  This whole thing only works with the help of parents. We expect to be taking about 20-25 players.  If you can drive please RSVP to Currently we only have drivers for the 11 kids signed up; if we get more kids (and we need more), we'll need more drivers.
  6. Costs:  There is no charge for the tournament (MUS pays for that). But you’ll need to bring money for  dinner Friday, lunch Saturday & Sunday, snacks, and swag.
  7. Facilities: We will be sleeping on the floor of the host family (so you'll need a mat, sleeping bag, and pillow).  We'll shower at the high school’s group showers (separate girls and boys facilities).  If you’re a modest type, you might bring a swim suit.
  8. Contact if you have questions.

MUS News Week of 4/10/16
Sunday, April 10, 2016 3:35 PM
  • Wrapping up fundraising: If you’re done selling coupons, please return remaining coupons/packet and any money collected to Chris Hickman or John Lazur at practice.
  • Registration: Please get team registration fees and forms in if you haven’t. Many of you have forms in, but haven't submitted the team fee - $100, check to Southwest Ultimate Frisbee Club. And don't forget the USAU registration online. See the Spring 2016 Season page for details.
  • Tournaments: Let coaches know your intent!  Let Coach Chris know if you want to play at Madison Mudbath, April 29-May 1 w/ open team.  Let Coach Erin know if you can commit to Hopkins Hustle, May 7-8.  You can indicate intent via TeamSnap “availability” tab.
  • Games: see TeamSnap for up-to-date game schedules and locations. Be sure to mark your availability so the coaches know who to expect at each game. AND... be sure to come prepared: bring a white and a dark jersey (or something that can serve as such for now), warm layers, WATER, cleats, and rain gear.
  • Parent Drivers Are Needed for Away Games: If you can drive to and from (or just one way), please e-mail or indicate availability in TeamSnap.
Indicate Your Interest in Madison Mudbath Tournament

Girls and boys -- indicate your interest in Madison Mudbath Tournament, 4/29-5/1

If you would like to be considered for the Mudbath tournament, please indicate your interest in TeamSnap. Usually we take up to 20 (more seasoned) players. MUS girls and boys are invited to play together on the open team that MUS will field. Coaches will make final decisions. You will depart Friday, 4/29 after school, and return 5/1 around 6:30pm.

(About Mudbath – The Mudbath Tournament is a favorite. It really highlights the Spirit of the Game. We drive to Madison, WI in parent cars, sleep at a host family’s house, shower in the High School facilities, and play 2 days of Frisbee against some great teams. It’s an honor to be invited back to play.)

Registration & fees due; practice details; fundraiser update
Saturday, March 19, 2016 7:40 PM

Welcome to the Spring Season!  Happy that we have a bunch of new players and returning players, and are fielding 3 teams this year for the first time in SWHS ultimate history. Woot! Woot!  Lots of info here -- please read -- especially if you're new to the TeamSnap distribution list.

1. (TIME SENSITIVE) REGISTRATIONS & FEES: Thanks to those who have gotten their registrations and fees in!  If you haven’t registered yet or if you have not yet paid your fee, read on.  As responsible stewards of team funds, we can’t order jerseys for those who aren’t registered.  Get your registration and payment in by one of these two dates to ensure a jersey. Earlier date, earlier jersey. Later date, later jersey.

  • 6:00pm, tomorrow (Sunday, March 20) -- Registrations and team fees received at Donna Beatty’s (treasurer/registrar) house, 6051 James Ave. S., by this deadline will have jerseys ready for first games.
  • 6:00pm, Sunday, April 3 -- Registrations turned in at a practice or received at Donna Beatty’s house, 6051 James Ave. S, Mpls, 55419 by this date will get jerseys later in the season.

2. How to register?

  • Visit the team website, 2015-2016 season page:
  • Print out and complete the 2 forms at the top of that page, the team application form and the medical waiver form.
  • Attach $100 team fee (cash or check). Make checks out to “Southwest Ultimate Frisbee Club”
  • Turn forms and fee in one of these ways:

    * Drop off or mail to Donna Beatty, MUS treasurer, 6051 James Ave. S, Mpls, 55419
    * Give to a coach, captain or to Donna at a practice
    * Give to Joe Sayles (coach & faculty sponsor) at Southwest High School, room W307

3. Fundraising!

We are in the middle of our big fundraiser – selling coupons to local businesses that can be used an unlimited number of times for a year. Thanks to all the players and parents that came out today and raised over $1,300 (!) for MUS by selling unlimited coupons and gathering donations.  We hope that all players will participate…it’s about sharing the effort, spirit, and reward.

We’re about half way to our goal to raise important funds to support 3 teams, subsidize jerseys, and provide scholarships so everyone can play ultimate.

  • Finish the blitz: Plan on joining the team April 9, 9am – 3pm, for the big final push! Meet at the Cioci/Lazur House, 4006 York Ave. S.
  • Can’t make the 9th? No worries -- keep selling in the 3 weeks between now and then!  We could blow by our $3,000 goal.
  • If you haven’t yet gotten a pack of coupons and instructions for selling – pick one up at practice from Coach Chris Hickman.
  • If you’ve already got a pack – keep selling them to anyone you can think of! And remember you can also accept donations.
  • Checks for coupons or donations should be made out to “Southwest Ultimate Frisbee Club”.

4. Practices, spring break & first games

  • Early season practices are happening at Armatage Park, Tues-Wed-Thu, about 3:45pm-5:45pm. In early to mid-April, when fields are okay, we’ll move to Minikahda Vista park (39th Street, 3 blocks west of France, just into St. Louis Park).
  • Practices will go on as normal, at Armatage, during SWHS spring break week (3/28-4/1).
  • Games are Tuesday and Thursdays -- start April 5 (girls), April 7 (boys).  We’ll depart 4:30pm from SWHS Chowen lot.  Detailed schedule should be announced soon.

And if you have questions that aren't answered here on the website, call, text, or e-mail:   612-508-6489

Go MÜS!!

Practices Begin March 8
Saturday, March 5, 2016 5:50 PM

Hey MUS! Thanks to all who attended the info night on Thursday. For those who didn't, time for registration is now!

To play you need to fill out both the Medical Authorization Form, and the Club Application. Both of these forms are available on the SW Ultimate Frisbee website (On the far right column). Turn these forms in to Chris Hickman at the first practice you attend, or to Joe Sayles at school. His room number is W307 (Third floor).

Additionally, you do need a USAU membership to play. To get this go to and create an account. After you create your account make sure that you purchase the membership in order to get your USAU number.

Second piece of news. Practices are going to start Tuesday, March 8! YAAYYY. We are going to have practices Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday at Armatage park. Practices are going to go from ~3:45-5:45 but it may be more like 4-6 depending on how long it takes for people to get to Armatage. We are all pretty flexible here at MUS :)

Last piece, please fill out this form if you haven't already to get your Jersey numbers/sizes in asap. It is also on the registration papers but we want to order very very soon!

Hope to see you all out on the field next week!!

The fall season is now underway.  New players are always welcome at practices -- now is a great time to start building skills if you're planning to play in the spring season.  You may also still be able to register for fall league if you wish).  Join us!

Time to Finish Fall Registration
Monday, August 31, 2015 6:40 AM

First game Sept 12 -- in just 2 weeks.  See the Fall Season page for game and practice schedule, locations, etc.

There are 4 steps to Fall registration:

  1. Sign up for the fall high school league ASAP. Link: (This is $15. Fee is waived if your parent volunteers for 2 or more Saturdays.) For coach info on the registration form, put Chris Hickman,, 651-235-2852.
  2. Sign up for USA Ultimate (the national association). If you aren't already a member, you'll be prompted to join while signing up for the high school league. (This costs $31 and is good Jan 1 - Dec 31).
  3. Complete the SWHS Ultimate Frisbee Club Registration Form.
  4. Complete the combined SWHS Ultimate Frisbee Club and USA Ultimate medical waiver form.

Both MUS and the High School league want a copy of the medical waiver. Give completed SWHS Registration Form and 1 Medical Waiver to any captain at practice, and bring the other medical waiver to the first game.

Fall MUS season details - practices & fall registration info
Monday, August 24, 2015 6:10 AM

Hi MUS! After Tuesday's Stadium game, it's time to start practices and sign up for fall league!!  SEE PHOTOS!

  1. First practice is this Wednesday, 8/25.
  2. Practice schedule: Tues - Wed - Thur, 4:00 - 5:45 p.m., Martin Luther King Jr Park (40th and Nicollet). These will be mostly captain-led. We know folks may be busy getting school started...attend as you can. See the Fall Season page for details and transportation information.
  3. Sign up for Fall League!! This year, we're switching from the TCUL league to the recently formed fall co-ed high school league. Why? We think this it provides better level of play, it takes the pressure off of girls (we don't need to meet a minimum requirement), and we may even get to create 2 teams, so more boys can get more playing time.

    Sign up now at:

YOU HAVE TO SIGN YOURSELF UP. It's only $15. Though you sign up individually, they aim to keep MUS players together on a team (or 2). Games will be 10am on Saturdays at Bossen Fields, beginning Sept 12.

For coach info...put Chris Hickman,, 651-235-2852

Looking forward to another great year of ultimate.
