In addition to the school nurse, Southwest High School has a School Based Clinic that provides students with comprehensive adolescent health services. The Minneapolis School Based Clinics are a partnership between the Minneapolis Health Department and Minneapolis Public Schools.

  • Health assessments
  • Physical exams, including sports physicals
  • Diagnosis and treatment of minor illness and injury
  • Reproductive healthcare
  • Laboratory services/screening
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Mental health counseling
  • Referrals for services
  • Wellness promotion
  • Classroom and conference presentations

Cost of Services:

Our goal is to provide services to all students regardless of insurance status. Services are provided at no-cost to families whether or not a student has insurance. Insurance is billed whenever possible to help cover the cost of care. We may send a bill for mental health service co-pays if a student has private insurance.
