The IB Career-related Programme (CP)

The International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme  (CP) enables schools to widen the participation in an IB education by incorporating the vision and educational principles of IB into a unique programme specifically developed for students who wish to engage in career related learning. 

Southwest Career – related Program pathways are:

  • Business
  • Computer Science
  • Graphic Arts
  • Music

     For academic strength, research and writing skills, international mindedness and the external validation students bring to their institutions
    For critical and creative thinking skills,  teamwork, perseverance, independence and consideration of ethical implications students bring to the workplace  


Requirements of CP


The requirements of the IB Career-related certificate are completed in the 11th and 12th grade years:

  • 2 or more IB Diploma Programme courses of choice
  • Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) Course – 2nd semester junior year and 1st semester of senior year
  • Reflective Project (supported in PPS)
  • Service Learning of 50 or more hours (supported in PPS)
  • Language Development Portfolio to documenting 50 or more hours of language studies
Career Related Program Core

Career-related Programme Core:  The CP Core consists of requirements constructed to enhance both academic and workplace readiness skills for the 21st century:

  •  Language Development
  •  Professional and Personal Skills (PPS)
  •  Reflective Project
  •  Service Learning

Together, the elements of the CP provide an individualized program of study that develops internationally minded people who strive to create a better, more peaceful world for themselves and humanity.
