Welcome to Mr Brink's webpage!  I am happy to have you, or your student, in room W126 and at Southwest high school.  As a staff we are happy to have you here and a part of our diverse school.

About me:

I was born in Minneapolis and went through Minneapolis Public Schools, including graduating from Southwest in 2006.  I did both my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of St Thomas in St Paul.  Completing my Masters in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL/ELL).  I have been part of the Southwest staff since 2008 as a coach for the Track and Field program as well as the Volleyball team, but just began teaching at Southwest in the Spring of 2017.

When I am not teaching I own a Stand Up Paddleboard company where we do camps and retreats around the Twin Cities. In addition to that I love to travel and learn about other cultures.  I hope to someday visit all the continents in the world and love learning languages.  I have visited 18 countries in Central and South America as well as Europe.  I am fluent in English and Spanish, know some German, and currently I am working on learning Arabic and Swahili.

My Classes:

For the 2017-2018 school year I am the teacher for two sessions of 9th grade Academic Language Deveolpment (2nd and 6th hours) as well as teach the Social Studies Concepts class for ESL 1 (7th hour).  I also am co-teaching ESL 2 Math with Mr Ali in room 151 3rd hour and 11th grade World History with Ms Rittler 4th hour. You can access the sylabus for each class below:
