AP  EXAM REGISTRATION PROCESS

Starts October 1, 2020 and Ends October 31, 2020

1. Make sure you have a MY AP account. To sign up for one go here:  MY AP . 

VIDEO on how to create your AP Account. You already have one if you took an AP test in the past so don't create a new account. If any issues with your account call the college board at:

2. Join your AP Classes with the CODE provided by your AP Teacher. 

3. Starting October 1st Register and Pay for your Exams following the instructions below. 

Where? Online link AP Registration (grades 9 - 12)

Registration Dates: 

October 1 - October 31st. A $5.00 late fee per exam will be charged for any registration after October 31st until November 10th.  After November 10th there will be a $40.00 late fee charged for each AP exam order after November 10th until March 1, 2021.  After March 1, 2021 registration is closed.

Cost: 

$58.00 per exam  (free and reduced lunch eligibility or financial need waivers are available when you register for the exam)

Late Fees: 

  • There will be a $5.00 late fee per exam ordered after Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 12:00 AM.
  • There is a $40.00 late fee per exam ordered after Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 12:00 AM.
  • The last day to order an exam with the $40.00 late fee is Friday, March 1, 2021 at 11:59 pm. 

Free and reduced lunch eligibility waivers do not cover late fees incurred by ordering late or cancelling an exam. 

What AP exams do I take*? 

Grades 9 - 10

  • 9th Grade students are eligible to take the AP Human Geography exam
  • 10th grade students are eligible to take the AP United States History Exam 

* If your student is currently in an AP Course such as AP Statistics please register your student for these additional exams. 

Grades 11 - 12

Students in grades 11 - 12 may register for the appropriate AP exams based on the classes they are in. 

The following exams are recommended if the student is in IB HL Literature or IB AL/HL Language and Literature 

  • 11th Grade students are eligible to take the AP Language and Composition exam
  • 12th grade students are eligible to take the AP Literature and Composition exam

The following exam is recommended if the student is in IB HL ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATIONS MATHEMATICS YEAR 2 with Mr. McMayer: 

  • AP Calculus BC 

The following exams are recommended if the student is in IB HL Physics

  • AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based - IB HL Physics Year 1 
  • AP Physics 2: Algebra-Based - IB HL Physics Year 2
  • AP Physics C: Mechanics - IB HL Physics Year 1 or Year 2 
  • AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism - IB HL Physics Year 2 

Southwest High School offers the following AP Exams: 

AP Art - 2D, 3D, Drawing through Advanced Art with Ms. Spano

AP Calculus BC through HL Math Year 2 with Mr. McMayer 

AP Calculus AB - no teacher / self-study if in HL Year 2 Math. 

AP Chemistry through SL Chemistry Year 2 with Mr. Zdrazil 

AP Computer Science Principles - no teacher/selft study.

AP European History - through AP European History with Mr. Denysenko.  

AP Human Geography through 9th Grade History teachers. 

AP Government & Politics through AP Government with Ms. Hooper. 

AP Language and Composition - no teacher/self study if in 11th grade IB English Lit or Lang/Lit. 

AP Literature and Composition - no teacher/self study if in 12th grade in IB English Lit or Lang/Lit.

AP Physics 1 through IB HL Physics with Mr. Bergseid Year 1. 

AP Physics 2 through IB HL Physics Year 2 with Mr. Bergsied. 

AP Physics C: Mechanics no teacher/self study if taking IB HL Physics Year 1 or 2.

AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism no teacher/self study if taking IB HL Physics Year 2. 

AP US History - through 10th grade US History teachers. 

When will the AP Exams take place? AP Schedule (Note - we do not offer all AP Exams at Southwest High School see list above). A complete Southwest AP and IB schedule with times and locations will be available at a later date.
