COVID-19 Information

We realize that with the closing of school, the 24-hour news coverage of COVID-19, social distancing and other health precautions, that this can be a time of extreme stress and anxiety for our students. Please note that Counselors (and Social Workers) are available by email and will phone or telecommunicate with students if they need social/emotional, academic, and/or college and career support. Counselor contact information is on the right side of this webpage (scroll down to see all Counselors). You can find other staff contact information on the Southwest website. You will also find additional strategies to reduce stress and anxiety at this link: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/managing-stress-anxiety.html.

During this time, the Southwest Counseling Department is emailing all students and families a weekly newsletter on Wednesdays. Each newsletter will be posted here after it has been emailed.

"Don't Get Gaggled:" An important message from MPS.

MPS District Career and College Readiness Management have asked that we share this video and the following information with all students and families:

  • This time of Distance Learning presents specific challenges in supporting the mental and emotional health needs of students. We must remember that there is no such thing as confidentiality online. To ensure student safety while online and to provide an added payer of support for school teams, MPS has recently enlisted Gaggle to help monitor student interactions on the G-Suite.
