US History

US History is a course that covers the history of our country from pre-Columbian times to the present. The goal is for students to have a better understanding of the nation they live in, and learn what it means to study history. The course covers themes that recur over time including: power, economic success and failure, struggle for rights, and expansion. Students in this class become historians as they analyze and learn to argue their own interpretation of past events and their significance.

The philosophy of our class is simple: learning is social. That means we are engaging in group activities and projects. Independent work will be a part of our class as well. The content of our class will be learned through research and directed inquiry. We will learn various study techniques that help us become better learners to make our work more efficient and fun.
