National Honor Society

Welcome to the website of the Southwest Chapter of National Honor Society! NHS is a service-based organization where members work to improve our community through community service and volunteerism.

Here at Southwest, we perform a number of important activities:

  • we collect recycling bins once a week from all of the classrooms,
  • we set up, volunteer at, and run at least 3 blood drives each year,
  • we volunteer at charities that help out in our community, such as Loaves and Fishes, as well as charities that work to improve the world, such as Feed My Starving Children,
  • we run the annual Sadie's Dance sometime in late fall or early winter,
  • and we work overall and as much as possible to make our community the best it can be.

More information can be found on the national NHS website.

Our methods of providing information include:

  • this website
  • the message board located just outside the lunchroom
  • email (please email us if you are a member of NHS but not on the mailing list)
  • Remind/text (click this link to join the remind: https://www.remind.com/join/a6272c) (Best method to learn about everything NHS-related)

December 11th, 2017

Save the date for our upcoming blood drive! In a couple weeks on December 22nd we will be hosting Memorial Blood Center in the West Gym. Come give blood and help save lives! Giving blood during the holiday season is particularly important, as not many people donate around this time and lots of people need transfusions. Tell your neighbors, and let's try to make a huge difference!

November 5th, 2017

The Sadie's Dance has been scheduled for November 10th, this Friday. All NHS members are required to attend the dance. If you cannot come, please email us as soon as possible.

We had excellent attendance at Feed My Starving Children this past Thursday! Thank-you to all of the NHS members who came and helped to package food for those who need it.
