Course Description
Honors Geography is a field of study that helps us understand how people, places and environments came to be and how they affect each other. The course will be based upon the following themes : Political Geography, Cultural Geography, Urban Geography, Economic/Agricultural Geography. The topics we explore in this class tie in directly to other disciplines such as , Sociology, History, Economics, and Government. Honors Geography is a comprehensive overview of global geography through the study of countries and regions of the world.
Students will study the Unit 5: Africa the first four weeks of Quarter 3. Students will complete a country power point-presentation to the class. A complete list of African Countries to study is on the Geography Worksheet/Map Exercise. Unit 7: Monsoon Asia will be the selection for the second unit of study and country power-point presentation to the class in March. Students may choose to work individually or as a student pair. Students will prepare a 10 minute oral power point presentation including pertinent and interesting information that you researched about the country: Current Events, Historical Key Events, Political/Economics of Country, Culture of the Country, and Tourist Attractions.
