Welcome to Southwest High School and the exciting challenge of learning academic language!
Our department provides collaborative services within the core content area classrooms, in addition to stand alone basic concepts classes, ESL Levels 1-3, grade level academic language classes (L4) and grade level College Prep Seminars. My core content areas of focus are World History, Govt./Econ., IBSL Math Studies and Senior Math. I also provide content support to 11th and 12th grade English Language Learners outside of class.
Within each content area, students will raise their proficiency levels of oral and written linguistic complexity, academic vocabulary
Equipped with content language, English Language Learners will grow academically and ethically on their journeys to deeper understanding of our local, national, and global communities by developing international mindedness and content knowledge, which promote an appreciation for the common elements of humanity; elements that transcend national, racial, ethnic, religious, and political boundaries and promote success in post-secondary endeavors and a desire to become life-long learners as defined
Use this site to find information and links to support learning in all content areas.
