Welcome to Southwest High School and the exciting challenge of learning academic language!
In room 34 your child will grow academically and ethically on his/her journey to a deeper understanding of our local, national, and global community by developing international mindedness, academic language skills and content knowledge that will promote an appreciation for the common elements of humanity that transcend national, racial, ethnic, religious, and political boundaries and success in his/her post secondary endeavors.

*Attendance and class participation is crucial to accademic success.
*Each student is required to read 30-60 minutes daily at his/her independent reading level. Students must keep a reading log to submit quarterly.
*1 Fiction Book Event Sheet (packet) is due quarterly.
*Students are also required to submit a writing sample based on a prompt weekly.
*Quizzes, essays/compositions, tests, and/or projects will also be required during each semester.
*Don't forget to check the grade portal regularly to make sure you are keeping up with your assignments.
