One minute speech (Ippun-kan Supiichi)

One Minute Speech-----Quarter 4  Ippun-kan Supiichi 

Please turn in your one-minute speech draft (in Japanese) two school days in advance to check accuracy.  Your speech and Q & A are timed.  I will stop your speech and Q & A when the maximum time limit (1 minute) comes.  You can use ten headings in English (not Japanese).

1. Length:        50 seconds – 1 minute. (10-15 sentences) speech for Japanese 1, 2 and 3 students

                        1 minute and 30 seconds for upper classes

2. Topic:           Assigned topic and anything not inappropriate. (Be considerate of your audience when choosing a topic unfamiliar to them.  Bring one picture and talk about it.  It is easy to talk if you have a colored picture.

J1:  Trip or Food   ( Do not use same sentence structure more than two times)

J2:  Food 

J3/CIS:  Trip    ( Use three grammar points from L7 to L10 )
 
J4 and higher:  Technology  (use grammar from L13 to L17) 
 

3. Vocabulary:  Use new  5 vocaburaly  but limit the number of words that have not been learned to less than 7.  Write those words on a piece of paper to put under the document camera or make a power point.

4. Format:           [your name] です。 : your name DESU.

                           [topic (noun)] について話(はな)します。: topic NI TSUITE HANASIMASU.

                             ……

                            これで終(お)わります。ありがとうございました。ARIGATOUGOZAIMASHITA.

                            質問(しつもん)があります。: SHITSUMON GA ARIMASU.

5. Questions:   Make three questions about your speech and ask audience.  You have 30 seconds at most to finish your three questions.  Only Japanese 1 students can ask Yes-No questions.

6. Good Speech:

   • You shouldn’t just read from your notes. You can use 10 headings (not sentences) only in English for the entire speech.  

              • You should use new grammar as much as possible.

              • You should use formal speech (MASU/DESU) form.

              • You might have to redo the speech if the teacher thinks you didn’t put in enough effort to earn the extra credit.

2. Grade:         Extra 1% of the total grade for extra Ippun-kan Supiichi up to two speeches.

3. Topic:           Assigned topic and anything not inappropriate. (Be considerate of your audience when choosing a topic unfamiliar to them.  Bring one picture and talk about it.  It is easy to talk if you have a colored picture.

J1:  Sports   ( Do not use same sentence structure more than two times)

J2:  Location  (use 5 location preposition vocabulary)

J3/CIS:  GEKI(げき) (play, theater)  ( Use three grammar points from L7 and L8 )
 
J4 and higher:  食べもの  (use grammar from L13 to L15) bring food to share in class.

J1:  Hero   ( Do not use same sentence structure more than two times)

J2:  My day  (use てform at least 2 times)

J3/CIS:  Leisure  ( Use three grammar points from L7 )
 
J4 and higher:  Japanese Customs and traditions   (Use Use three grammar points from L13 )

3. Topic:            Assigned topic or anything not inappropriate. (Be considerate of your audience when choosing a topic unfamiliar to them.  Bring pictures if necessary. If you would like to project your picture(s), bring your own laptop. The set-up should be done before class begins.) 

J1:  Introduce each other (add family members)

J2:  Introduce each other (add hobby, favorite TV program, weekend activities)

J3/CIS:  at School---use てform three times each
 
J4 and higher:  At the Narita Airport ---- combine two adjective, adjective past, TE form, Potential (two times), use voc from reading packet 29 and 30.
