AP English 11
Language and Composition
The course is intended to prepare each student for the AP Language and Composition test in the spring. A score of 3 and above typically results in the awarding of college credit(s).
Among various texts, students will read the following: The Color of Water, by James McBride; and Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi (an animated memoir). In addition, there will be lessons on SAT-level vocabulary and grammar proficiency, and timed in-class worksheet assignments. The latter assignments are intended to sharpen student skills in preparing for the AP exam in the spring. (Taking the test is not a class requirement, though it is recommended.)
