The Southwest Music Boosters was organized as a 501(c)3 non-profit seven years ago.
Its Mission: To enrich the music education of all Southwest students through promotion, volunteerism and fundraising.
Its Members: All parents of Southwest music students and anyone who is interested in the music program at Southwest is a Music Booster.
Its Board: The Music Boosters efforts are overseen by an all volunteer group of Southwest Music parents and supporters and includes the two music directors, Keith Liuzzi and Nathan Knoll. The current chair is Jackie Mattingly (jackie@vansusteren.com). Board members meet once a month (generally the 3rd Wednesday) at 4:00 p.m. in the Band Room of Southwest. The only qualification to be a board member is to have the passion to make Southwest's music programs the best they can be. We are always open to new board members.
The Need: Each year the Boosters raise money to cover the expenses of operating a top-rate music program at Southwest. Money is raised to fund the following year's program though some dollars may be spent in the year raised if there are extra dollars in the budget. Other than teacher salaries, the music program is operated entirely from donations to the Boosters through fundraisers and through donations at music performances. This year we are raising our fundraising goals in hopes of establishing a capital fund to purchase new instruments and recording equipment for the program.
Our Goal: Our goal this year is $40,000, most of which will come from our 7th Annual Hot Notes event.
