Southwest High, part of the Minneapolis Public Schools system, is a diverse urban high school serving over 1750 students in 9th through 12th grade. Over 25 different language groups are spoken by our English Language Learner (ELL) students. Southwest offers a full Diploma International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. Advanced Placement courses and our extensive Special Education programs serve a variety of student needs. 30 % of our students meet federal poverty guidelines, qualifying them for free or reduced lunch. 89% of our students pursue post secondary education, with 68 % attending four-year colleges. Newsweek magazine has again identified Southwest High School as "One of American’s Best High Schools" 2005-2010.
