Equipment and gear are critical for skiing. Quality equipment makes the sport more enjoyable. Appropriate gear is critical for safe winter skiing. On this page, you will find  gear and equipment suggestions from the coaches.

Nordic Clothing Needs

The following is a list of the clothing that each skier should have for the season.

TOP

-Wicking top: Zip turtleneck or mock neck long sleeve. ABSOLUTELY NO COTTON!

-Jacket: SW warm-up, or breathable jacket with wind front. Down or puffy jackets are too warm.

-Mid Layer: (Nice to have but can do without) Some kind of breathable vest, tank. Can wear two wicking tops as well.

BOTTOM

-Wicking long underwear

-Wind front pants: SW warm-up , or other, full-zip is great for racing, easy off and on.

HEAD

-Wool hat

Balaclava (breathable face mask), neck gaiter, or Buff.

HANDS

-Lonster gloves are warmer than gloves. Mitts are the warmest. Specific nordic skiing handwear works best for moement and feel.

FEET

-Wool socks. You will probably need several pairs.

Costco sells a 3 pack of Smartwool-like wool socks.

WATER BOOTTLE & WATER BOTTLE CARRIER

-You must have this. We often go out for severl hours without going in for water breaks. You need to hydrate, even when it's cold (see Training Tips)

WOMEN SPECIFIC

-Wicking sports bras. Not cotton.
-Wicking short or boy short underwear. Not Cotton.

MEN SPECIFIC

-Wind Briefs. An absolute must.
