2012-forms and fees due to the athletic office by 8-7-12!
Southwest High School Cross Country Team Southwest High School has a rich cross country tradition and has won more State High School Cross-Country Boys Team Championships than any other Minnesota school. At Southwest, one can be a “full” member of the team, and even earn a letter, without ever racing in a meet. Non-competitive or fitness runners are valued as highly as those who compete for Conference, Regional and State titles. As a result, Southwest’s cross-country team alumni are now competing at NCAA Division I schools (including Stanford, Georgetown, and Minnesota), Division III schools (including Macalester, Carleton, Grinnell, Knox, and Tufts), as well as running for fitness in colleges, on trails and paths around the world.
Summer Training
Both the boys and girls team meet each morning at 8:00am at the high school track throughout the summer to run together. All new team members, including incoming freshmen, are encouraged to join in and participate as often as they can. If you want to get in some miles to get in shape, this is the practice to come to. There are runners of all ability levels, so you will find someone to run with. Some of the team members also meet again at the track at 4:00pm to work on their running form and speed. This practice is also open to all team members.
